Flax Seed Oil contains omega-6 and omega-9 essential fatty acids, protein, zinc, potassium, B vitamins, lecithin, magnesium, fiber, and more omega-3 oils than fish oil. Reasearchers say flaxseed oil may be a more important health supplement than a multi-vitamin. Omega-3 fatty acids lower cholesterol and blood triglycerides, preventing clots in arteries, that result in strokes, heart attacks and thromboses.

The recommended daily dose is 1,000 mg taken one to three times a day. However, adding flax seeds into your diet is better. To get maximum benefits, the seeds should always be ground and eaten within 15 minutes. Whole flaxseeds are simply not digested properly. A coffee grinder works great for grinding flaxseeds. Scientific studies have shown up to 30 grams of flax seeds a day can be taken safely without side effects. Our family takes about one tablespoons a day of fresh refrigerated flaxseed oil for adults and one teaspoon a day for our children. In some cases, results can take up to six weeks to notice.
If you really want to feel great have lots of energy and stay healthy, there are three most important things you can do for yourself and your family.
1. Cut out all hydrogenated oils and partially hydrogenated oils.
2. Add the right oils to your diet such as flaxseed oil, olive oil for low temperature cooking, and coconut oil for higher temperatures such as in frying.
3. Cut out all refined products, especially refined sugars.
Do a search on Dr. Johanna Budwig. She was one of the worlds leading expers on oils and fats. She also has an excellent cookbook with easy recipes using flaxseed oil and coconut oil that you can purchase on amazon.com. Dr. Budwig successfully cured cancer and other diseases with a special flaxseed oil/cottage cheese recipe. She died in 2003 at the age of 95.
